For round toilet flush buttons, the distance between the two push rods varies depending on the ceramic lid opening size that the button is designed to fit.

For our common round button configurations:

• 40 mm ceramic lid opening: push rod spacing is approximately 18.2 mm
• 50 mm ceramic lid opening: push rod spacing is approximately 25 mm
• 60 mm ceramic lid opening: push rod spacing is approximately 28 mm

Because the push rod spacing is different, the width of the push rod guide must match the corresponding flush button.

If the guide is too wide, it can force the two push rods outward. If the guide is too narrow, it can pull the rods inward.

In either case, the guide may create additional resistance instead of improving stability.

An incorrectly matched push rod guide may cause:

• a heavier or uneven pressing feel;
• increased friction between the push rods and the guide;
• difficulty pressing the flush button;
• slow or incomplete button return after flushing.

Therefore, when selecting a push rod guide for a toilet flush button, both the ceramic lid opening size and the corresponding push rod spacing should be considered.

The correct guide should help maintain alignment without forcing the rods inward or outward.

What Are the Black Rubber Tips at the Bottom of the Push Rods?

The black components installed at the bottom of the push rods are anti-slip rubber tips.

Their main function is to increase friction between the push rods and the top of the flush valve.

Inside a toilet cistern, the flush valve is continuously exposed to water and moisture. Over time, the surface of the flush valve may become relatively slippery.

If a bare plastic push rod presses directly against this surface, the contact point may gradually move during repeated operation.
